We launched WhatsApp’s first global platform and honored billions of their user stories by telling just one. We wrote and captured a film about a real NBA superstar fighting to define his identity. People have always tried to tell Giannis Antetokounmpo what country he belongs to — he’s part Nigerian, part Greek. We helped Giannis own his narrative and define his identity in his own words. Inspired by the timeless Greek poem, and shot across three continents, this was a project that pushed the boundaries of branded content.

We developed the film and first global brand platform for WhatsApp — There’s No One Like Us — a rallying cry for the millions of people, like Giannis, with multiple cultural heritages. The film and platform launched simultaneously around the world and transformed Giannis into WhatsApp’s first global brand ambassador.

The film concludes with the launch of WhatsApp’s new global platform; There’s No One Like Us. On launch day, we organized billboards in Giannis’s home countries that mashed up his dual languages — Nigerian, Greek, English — that spoke to the millions of locals who live proudly between cultures.

NEW YORK PREMIER

The film premiered at the Metrograph Theatre in NYC’s Lower East Side with Giannis and his family in attendance.
